Notification about the Change of Activity Organization　

Foreigners who received landing permission, permission for change of status of residence, or permission for extension of period of stay on or after July 9, 2012, are required to notify the Immigration Service Bureau within 14 days when you stop to be enrolled at a university due to graduation, completion, or withdrawal, or when you transfer or enter another university.

However, suppose you are leaving Japan immediately after graduation, completion of studies, etc. You do not need to follow this procedure if you return your residence card at the airport immigration service office.
